By allowing the rolled barley to absorb water before cooking, it will have just the right consistency when cooked with rice.

-About ingredients/ingredients-

During the Edo period, Mariko (currently Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture), a post town on the 53rd station of the Tokaido Road, had a specialty called ``Mugi Toro Gohan.'' This dish became famous after appearing in the famous literary work ``Tokaido Chuuhizakurige,'' and became widely popular throughout Japan.

``Mugi Toro Gohan'' is a dish that is eaten with grated yam (grated mountain potatoes such as Yamato yam) on top of barley rice. The sticky grated yam and the light texture of the barley rice harmonize perfectly, making for a very delicious combination. It is one of the most popular dishes, with many people wanting more because of its deliciousness.
